I’ve never had a clear affinity to one season. I know lots of people who can clearly identify their favourite season, reeling off a list of reasons why. I guess I’m just too fickle to pick one. Each season comes with it’s own benefits and I usually find myself pining for the one that’s just finished. Apart from winter. Winter can do one.
A little while ago I started getting excited about the arrival of autumn and all the wonderful cliches that go with it; you know what I mean – thick tights, hot chocolate, colourful leaves, cosy nights in by candlelight. And let’s not forget not having to shave my legs. But then it dawned on me, I’m not sure I’m ready for summer to end. We had such glorious weather this year and I’m sure I’m not the only one who started to take it for granted. Warmer weather and light evenings almost became a given and I became too comfortable with being able to live in skirts and dresses and go outside sans knitwear. I’m actually going to miss coming home from work and flinging open the doors, the sunset walks with the dog and the coffee outside in the garden. I’ve decided to get one last squeeze from my summer wardrobe before it retires to the loft, so don’t be surprised if you see me in a floral dress come rain or shine.
One of the dresses I’m really going to miss, is Rufina from Miss Candyfloss. Featuring their signature pleated bust and deep v-neckline, with contrasting rose print needlecord and baby pink border, this dress is the epitome of 50’s housewife elegance and glamour. It makes want to clean the house and bake a cake, and let’s be honest, that can’t be a bad thing for anyone. I’m already consider ways that I can winterise this dress, with the addition of hats, hosiery and knitwear so that I can hang on to it just that little bit longer.
I’ve never met a Miss Candyfloss dress I didn’t get along with. They’re my go to brand for perfectly fitting, classic 40s and 50s styles. At the moment, my collection consists solely of swing styles as I know they suit my bodyshape. I can confidently disregard the hip measurements and focus on the bust and waist. I am wearing a size S in this dress and it fits like a glove.
Rufina is priced at €110 and is currently available in sizes XS S, M, L, XL, 5XL.
Disclaimer – this dress was kindly gifted to me by Miss Candyfloss, however all opinions are my own honest views. I do not accept any items that I wouldn’t genuinely purchase myself.
