My name’s Gem and I’m addicted to shoes. My shoe hoarding has been an issue for as long as I can remember. Whilst I don’t buy anywhere near the quantity or at the same frequency as I used to, I still have a lot of shoes. And like many women, I’m guilty of not wearing all of them. I often joke that when I grow up I’d like to be a centipede, as it would enable me to get around to wearing my 140+ pair collection! It’s all too easy to fall into the trap of wearing the same pair of comfy black ballet pumps, day in, day out. I know I wear them too often, mainly because I have to replace them every three months because I wear through the soles! My collection is really diverse and ranges from my coveted Louboutins, to Irregular Choice to Doc Martens and less desirable steel toe-capped boots (yeah, probably wont share the latter).

Then, I had a lightbulb moment; that I would begin sharing some of my favourite shoes every Friday under a hashtag and encourage others to join in with me. The idea being that it would encourage me to delve into the depths of the 5 different locations I have to keep my shoes and pull out some hidden Gems, in the hope that I would then share and wear the ones I love and sell the ones I don’t. I excitedly sent a voicenote to my IG bestie, Georgia Harrup. It seems that we might have been living in each other’s brains, as she sent me a video of the blog planning notes she’d made earlier that weekend with plans to share her shoes each week under a Friday hashtag.
As for why Georgia is joining me, I’ll let her explain
‘Hi, my name’s Georgia and I am a shop-aholic It goes without saying that they all live in their own boxes and of course they all have names. Working in a busy office, I live for a bright, quirky or unusual pair of shoes that make me feel invincible. They say give the girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world, and this sums me up perfectly! Some days I put on my dancing shoes, other days my surviving shoes but every day is another chance to wear fabulous shoes. My wardrobe is full of brights, and my shoe collection does not disappoint. I love a good colour combination.
