Yesterday (Saturday), my wife and I took advantage of its fabulously close proximity from our home and made our way to Atomic festival. I discovered this event whilst stalking the website of Campbell Crafts, to find out where I might be able to visit their beautiful airstream stall over the summer. Having seen that it was only 30 minutes down the road from us, it would have been rude not to have got tickets.
I’ll be honest, my primary motive for wanting to go, was obviously shopping. Amongst the many stalls there, was the aforementioned Campbell Crafts, LadyK Loves, Freddies of Pinewood and Bow and Crossbones. Despite having promised myself (and my bank balance) that I wouldn’t be buying anything, i clearly did. More about those items later!
Unfortunately the weather was typically British; grey, cloudy and cold. I wont lie, this kind of dampened the day for me slightly. I’d be dreaming of laying on the grass in the sun, drinking cider and lapping up the music and atmosphere. Sadly, we were actually sat inside drinking coffee! Whilst the festival was great fun, I couldn’t help but feel that it would have been more enjoyable if my wife and I knew more people from ‘the scene’. We both got the impression that a huge proportion of the people there knew each other from various other events and that this was an opportunity to socialise. As we didn’t know anyone there, we just took the chance to wander around the stalls, watch the jive competition, listen to some bands and admire some beautiful outfits. I must say, i am totally in love with the deco style of the buildings at Sywell Aerodrome!
On that note, I’ll leave you with some photos of our day out. I’d love to hear what’s on your festival hit list for the day.
(please excuse the awful quality of the photos!!
